Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We have compiled the main questions from our clients to help you streamline your production. If you don't find what you're looking for, our technical team with over 30 years of experience is at your disposal.

1. What is an STL file for jewelry?

An STL file is a three-dimensional digital model used for 3D jewelry printing. It contains the entire geometry of the piece and allows for the production of prototypes or models that will be used in lost-wax casting or direct casting with castable resin.

2. Where to buy STL files for jewelry?

STL files for jewelry can be purchased on specialized platforms or directly from companies that develop CAD projects for jewelry. At MS Soluções para Joalheria, we offer professional files developed with a focus on production viability.

3. How to create an STL file for 3D jewelry printing?

To create an STL file, it is necessary to develop the model in 3D CAD jewelry design software, such as Rhino, Matrix, or other specialized programs. After modeling, the design is exported in STL format, which can be used for 3D printing.

4. What is the best software for 3D jewelry design?

Among the most used software in the jewelry industry are Matrix, Rhinoceros, ZBrush, and RhinoGold. These tools allow for creating designs with high precision and preparing models suitable for 3D printing and casting.

5. Which 3D printer is best for printing jewelry?

The most used printers for jewelry are those with SLA, DLP, or LCD technology, which work with photosensitive resin and offer high resolution, ideal for pieces with fine details.

6. How to prepare an STL file for jewelry casting?

An STL prepared for casting must consider adequate thicknesses, piece structure, stone settings, and proper metal flow. A well-developed design avoids problems such as casting failures or fragility of the piece.

7. Is it possible to cast 3D printed pieces directly?

Yes. Using castable resins specifically for jewelry, it is possible to perform direct casting of 3D printed pieces, eliminating the need for rubber molds and wax injection.

8. What is the minimum thickness for a ring in 3D printing?

The minimum thickness depends on the design and the metal used, but generally, between 1 mm and 1.5 mm for main structures is recommended to ensure strength and good casting results.

9. How to calculate the weight of a piece of jewelry from the STL file?

The weight can be estimated using the volume of the 3D model and the density of the desired metal (gold, silver, or other material). Many jewelry CAD software programs already offer this estimate automatically.

10. Can I use STL files to produce jewelry for sale?

Yes. STL files are used by manufacturers and designers to produce jewelry on a small or large scale, depending on the terms of use and licensing of the purchased model.

11. What is the difference between STL and CAD files for jewelry?

CAD files are the editable design files, which allow for modifying dimensions and details of the piece. The STL is a final three-dimensional mesh file, generally used for 3D printing.

12. How to turn a drawing into an STL jewelry file?

A drawing or image can be converted into a 3D project through CAD modeling performed by a jewelry design specialist, who recreates the design digitally and generates the STL file.

13. How much does it cost to develop a 3D jewelry project?

The price of a project depends on the complexity of the design, details of the piece, and the required modeling time. Custom projects usually have variable costs based on the level of development.

14. Does STL for jewelry work on any 3D printer?

Not necessarily. For jewelry, the best results are obtained with high-resolution resin 3D printers, developed to produce small and detailed pieces.

15. What is the best resin for 3D jewelry printing?

For jewelry production, specific castable resins are used, developed to burn out completely during the casting process, allowing for the manufacturing of metal pieces with high fidelity to the printed model.

16. Which software opens files from MS Soluções?

Our files are compatible with the main software on the market, such as Rhinoceros (Matrix/MatrixGold), ZBrush, Blender, and slicers like Chitubox and Lychee.

17. Is the STL file editable?

The STL format is a closed mesh for printing. If you need structural changes or exclusive customizations, please contact us to request a quote for bespoke modeling.

18. How do I receive my file after payment?

After payment confirmation, we send the STL file to the email provided during purchase within 24 hours. If you do not find the message, please check your spam folder or write to contato@mssolucoesjoalheria.com.

19. Do I need to keep a copy of the file?

Yes. We recommend saving a backup copy of the file on your computer or cloud service as soon as you receive it. In case of difficulty, contact us via email at contato@mssolucoesjoalheria.com, providing the order number.

20. I had problems with the download or the file — what should I do?

Contact our support via email at contato@mssolucoesjoalheria.com, providing your order number. Our technical team with over 30 years of experience will analyze the case and, if a technical defect in the file is confirmed, we will send a corrected version within 48 business hours.
