Mechanical polishing: the foundation of all finishing
Correct sequence: sandpaper (100-400 grit) → abrasive sponge (600-1000 grit) → green abrasive compound (pre-shine) → white compound or rouge (final shine).
Electropolishing: perfect shine where mechanical polishing cannot reach
Electrochemical process that removes a uniform micrometric layer from the metal surface. Ideal for ring interiors, hard-to-reach surfaces and pieces with organic textures.
Electroplating: color, protection and value
Most used in jewelry: Rhodium plating (on silver or white gold): exceptional hardness, brilliant white, resistance to yellowing. Gold plating yellow, rose or white: gold appearance at much lower cost. Ruthenium plating: matte or glossy black finish for contemporary jewelry.
Bath thickness: for daily wear, minimum 0.5µm rhodium. For fine jewelry, 1-2µm for extended durability.
