How to prepare an STL file for scale production without losing details

6 steps to prepare an STL file for jewelry production

Step 1: Check mesh integrity. In Rhinoceros: CheckMesh command. In ZBrush: Tool > Geometry > Check. Fix open edges, flipped faces and non-manifold geometry. Step 2: Verify minimum wall thickness. For SLA printing: 0.5mm minimum. For subsequent casting: 0.8mm. Step 3: Set correct scale. STL stores numeric values without units. Confirm model is in millimeters. Step 4: Export with adequate resolution. For fine jewelry: 0.005-0.01mm tolerance. Step 5: Validate in slicer before printing. Check scale, geometry errors, layer visualization and support placement. Step 6: Printing parameters. Layer thickness 0.025-0.05mm, resin tray temperature 25-35°C.
