How to maintain rubber molds and extend their lifespan in jewelry production

Mold enemies: what degrades rubber

Excessive heat (above 80°C), solvents and chemicals, UV light, prolonged compression and excessive release agent all degrade rubber prematurely.

Usage best practices

Wax temperature: keep between 60°C and 70°C. Injection pressure: use the minimum necessary. Release agent: apply a thin, uniform layer. Demolding: never force — wait for the wax to cool.

Correct storage: 5 critical points

1. Temperature between 15°C and 30°C. 2. Protected from UV light. 3. Stored flat, without heavy objects on top. 4. Away from solvents and acids. 5. Labeled with code, date and injection count.

Signs the mold is reaching end of life

Progressive flash on pieces, loss of fine details, hardened or cracked rubber, increasingly difficult demolding.
